Trying to help someone with an addiction?

Trying to help someone with an addiction?  You can't change someone else but that doesn't mean you should enable them either.  If you change, that will introduce change into the system.  This will require them to adjust which may be the only thing that will bring about change in their life.   If you are a spouse of someone who is dealing with a serious addiction you may have to do something extreme like move out or have them move out until they find healing.

A desire to change is the only hope for someone to win over an addiction.  You may be able to introduce that desire by your actions.  Addicts make great liars and will tell you anything you want to hear.  You need to see actual fruit of their desire to change before you can believe them.

Learning about addictions is valuable and you might consider taking a course offered at a local college or university.  Any substance abuse addiction education would be valuable to understand pornography addiction as most operate in similar ways with the brain's dopamine release.
